THE IMAGE OF PETER THE GREAT IN THE SECRET DISPATCHES OF THE JESUITS
Abstract
The article highlights activities of the Jesuit order in Russia in the late 17th – early 18th centuries and the way Peter I is represented in them. The source of the research is so called secret letters of the Jesuits, which allow determining the model of their behavior in Russia and the change in the attitude of the Jesuits to the Russian Tsar over several years.
